You certainly aren't short of things to do when you base your weekend break or stop over at the Durant Arms. There are dozens of activities for you to enjoy in close range of Ashprington.
Here are some of our suggestions - both enjoyable things we've done ourselves and others recommended by guests.

Things to do... Ashprington and nearby
You might like to wander down to Bow Creek, sometimes referred to as 'Devon's best kept secret.' an area of outstanding natural beauty within easy walking distance from the Durant Arms.
Many visitors hire a bike in Totnes and ride or walk the Ashpington Cycle Path/footpath down past Sharpam estate to Ashpington. The more energetic of you might like to continue down to Dartmouth through idyllic riverside scenes past water meadows, marshland, weirs and quiet woods.
We'd recommend a visit to Sharpham vineyard where you could enjoy a day out exploring the estate and tasting some of the very best in British wines and cheeses. It's just a short walk from the hotel.
Things to do... Totnes
Take a leisurely stroll around ancient and artistic Totnes. Bohemian, new age, historic, charming - Totnes is a vital and vibrant town. You can visit the twice-weekly market and pick up antiques, musical instruments and second-hand books. There's handmade clothing from across the world as well as local organically produced products.
Steam trains run on the South Devon Railway from Buckfastleigh to Totnes, very scenic and reminiscent of times gone by.
Things to do... Dartmouth
Many visitors to the region make a beeline for the ancient town and deepwater port of Dartmouth. Set in an idyllic location, on the picturesque River Dart, steep wooded hillsides on either side Dartmouth embrace a romantic, nostalgic ambiance. You might prefer to take it easy and enjoy a cruise on the River Dart between Dartmouth and Totnes
