Situated in the delightful conservation village of Ashprington, three miles South of the market town of Totnes. The Durant Arms, established in 1725, is a country inn and a family run free-house with four en-suite letting bedrooms.
We offer three rooms with a private guest entrance, that are accessed by stairs, and one in a courtyard annex. Breakfasts are cooked to order.
All rooms have Freeview TV, coffee and tea making facilities, and guest toiletries. Towels and a hairdryer are provided; free wifi is available in most areas.
The Durant Arms is owned and run by The Woollacott family, our newly refurbished bar reopened in March 2014. We offer a selection of real ales, ciders, and wines, and serve hearty home-cooked food, using fresh ingredients from local suppliers. In October 2014 Chris Snowden joined us as Head Chef. With log-burners on chilly days we look forward to welcoming you, along with your boots, dogs and bikes. Second-phase improvements to the end dining room was completed February 2015, including a new log burner stove and looks great.
The fantastic coastline of the South Hams district offers quiet isolated coves through to popular and extensive beaches such Bantham, Bigbury and Blackpool Sands and is within easy access by car from The Durant Arms, and Dartmoor National Park is about 30 minutes drive away making us an ideal base to explore the area. Sharpham vineyard is just 15 minutes walk away. We are conveniently located on the South Devon national cycle route No. 28 (cycle rack provided to secure your bikes) and The Dart Valley scenic walking trail to Totnes.
